Location - Facilities - Our children

The CWH is located in Lalitpur, Kathmandu Valley, in the Central Region of Nepal. We currently operate on rented premises, including a main building and an annex with a small kitchen and a classroom for the children. We have two small kitchens, 8 rooms, an office, a classroom to provide for the needs of 55 children and a total of 10 staff members working with us. Overall, it can house up to one hundred children. The classroom has two functions. For one the evening classes of the children are held here, for the other, the children have their meals in the same room. There are also volunteer and guest rooms, bathroom, nursery, a garden and a playground. These buildings allow children to play without disturbing neighbors and provide good and spacious facilities.

Admission process for children

For orphans the birth certificates of the mother and father are required, as well as a recommendation from the Village Development Committee and the District Office of the district the children are from. For street children, the recommendations are usually submitted by the local police station. For children from poor families, we require a recommendation letter from the VDC (Village Development Committee) containing a detailed description of the family background and the justification of the proposal (reasons for the admission to CWH, incl. extreme poverty, lack of educational facilities or no access to them, etc.)

After admission

The placement includes accommodation, proper food, tuition by our in-home teachers, and enrolment in government or private schools – depending on sponsorship.
