Mr. Jaya Ram Tamata was born in a poor family in Far Western of Darchula District in a remote place of Nepal called Huti V.D.C. This is one of the regions of the country known for poverty, illiteracy and backwardness.

Since his father died when he was a child, he was unable to go to school. So, Jaya Ram started as a laborer and earned his school fees at the age of 12. He had coped with many difficulties to become the first person from his village to complete an education. Through the help of his cousin, who donated a piece of land, he was able to establish a school (Shree Latibab Primary School ) in his locality.

Being a member of the Dalit (untouchable) community, Jaya Ram felt the need to organize social projects to help his community improve its situation, so the next generation will not have to face the same difficulties. He wanted the poor and uneducated people to smile and have a happy life. So, from his youth, Jaya Ram Tamata stood as a social worker, and started adult literacy programmes, health and other social programmers in his village.

Still in the country, he started wotrking for the NNDWO (Nepal National Depressed Welfare Organization), widely known in Nepal as the `Dalit N.G.O.`. He is still involved with that organization as a member. He had another opportunity to develop his skills working for the organization `Mahakali Overseas`, founded by Mr. Pratp Ram Lohar, who brought Jaya Ram and his wife to Kathmandu.

Seeing the difficulties of city life, motivated Jaya Ram even more to be a social worker. He thought he would certainly do one great thing for the welfare of children.

One day a foreigner asked Jaya Ram, " You look educated. What do you do?" Are you involved in social work?" JayaRam was so happy that someone recognized him for what he does. He felt proud of himself and took pride in his work. He started working with one orphan home in 1990 July. His wife was responsible for looking after the children.

In 1995, he founded the Children Welfare Home and also helped to find support for the Shree Mahendra Bhrikuti school of which he is a management committee member.

In the Children Welfare Home 12 children were accommodated in the opening year. To be able to establish the Home, JayaRam sold all his property that he had in his village. Today Jaya Ram helps provide lodging, food, and education to 55 children in the CWH. They have a smile on their face and they are happy. Actually, this is JayaRam's properly.
